This same procedure would cost over $100 at a vet, and you don't even have to leave town! You must email or call ahead of time to get an appointment and complete some short paperwork over the phone. If you aren't sure about having your pet spayed/neutered, then check out our brochures and learn more about how spaying/neutering is a good thing.

Our Clinics Make A Difference

  As of December 14, 2009

Every year, we save over 50,000 cats or dogs from suffering or dying needlessly

because of  our low-cost clinics!

We believe every cat and dog has the right to a healthy and happy life. We believe that Powell County residents should have access to affordable vet services. Together we are making a positive impact in our community!

According to The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA):

§   For each CAT we spay and neuter, we prevent the birth of 74 unwanted kittens in ONE YEAR.

§   For each DOG we spay and neuter, we prevent the birth of 100 unwanted puppies in ONE YEAR.

These are kittens and puppies that end up dumped on the side of the road or worse are surrendered to the pound, where they get a variety of intestinal and respiratory infections, and die a slow, painful death.

FOPCP is only able to help 1 in 5 cats or dogs at the pound – that’s only 20%. A few of the remaining 80% are lucky enough to be adopted from the pound. Unfortunately, the majority of cats and dogs suffer and die needlessly at the pound. The best impact we have is to host these local, low-cost spay/neuter clinics to prevent unwanted litters ending up at the pound in the first place.

§  In 2009, we held 6 low-cost spay/neuter clinics (5 at CCE), where 240 total cats and dogs were altered.

§  In 2008, we held 6 low-cost spay/neuter clinics at CCE, where 112 cats and 119 dogs (231 total) were altered.

§  In 2007, we held 4 low-cost spay/neuter clinics at CCE, where 113 cats and 68 dogs (181 total) were altered.

As a result of these clinics to date, EACH YEAR we prevent the birth of:

§  25,530 unwanted cats

§  30,700 unwanted dogs
